BACKGROUND:
In the WAC meeting on January 15, 2026- Member Rohena proposed surgical dredging as a preferred method for addressing the sediment buildup in the island’s waterways. Committee discussed the topic’s overall effects on the ecosystem and noted that smaller scale dredging could be more practical-physically, financially, and logistically. Committee recommended revisiting the topic and discussed the potential of preparing an executive summary to present to Marco Island City Council
