Ten Thousand Trees in Ten Years Forward Plan (S. Connelly)

BACKGROUND: At the April 8, 2024 Marco Island City Council Meeting, recent-past Beautification Advisory Committee Chair David Leaser joined with City Councilor Becky Irwin in recognizing the 13 donors who sponsored the purchase and planting of trees through the first quarter of 2024 under the Ten Thousand Trees in Ten Years pilot program.
Current Beautification Advisory Committee Chair Shelli Connelly recently received indication that a single donor may now be interested in donating an additional 100 trees to the program, so she has requested that the Committee identify a new Committee Lead for this program and confirm the Committee’s process for accepting and managing future citizen and business community donations to it.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: N / A
RECOMMENDATION: Discuss Chair Connelly’s report. Identify a Committee volunteer to lead the Ten Thousand Trees in Ten Years pilot program.
POTENTIAL MOTION: I move that the Committee accept the self-nomination of (Committee Member Name) to lead the Ten Thousand Trees in Ten Years pilot program.
