BACKGROUND:
The following is a timeline of the City Manager Search:
• January 5, 2026 - Council approved the internal recruitment process.
• February 2, 2026 - Council approved the City Manager Search Timeline Process and Job Description.
• April 6, 2026 - Council reviewed the candidate rankings and approve next steps to include reference checks and interview coordination for the May 11th City Manager Interview Workshop.
• May 11, 2026 - Council interviewed 4 City Manager candidates during a scheduled workshop, Councilors were asked to complete their written Candidate Evaluation Sheet and submit them to Human Resources by Tuesday, May 12. Formal Council action on the selection of a candidate will be undertaken at the May 18, 2026, City Council meeting.
• May 18, 2026 - Council reviewed the summary of individual Councilor candidate ratings for the four (4) City Manager candidates interviewed on May 11, 2026, and it discussed the Councilor perspectives and insights gained from that effort. Council voted 7-0 in favor of extending an offer of employment to Interim City Manager, Casey Lucius, Ph.D.
