Resolution - Approval of the County's Potential Acquisition of Two Parcels of Land Totaling 0.91 Acres Located within the City of Marco Island Under the Conservation Collier Land Acquisition Program - Joan Taylor, City Clerk

BACKGROUND:
On March 24, 2026, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners voted to pursue potential acquisition of two parcels of land totaling 0.91 acres located on Marco Island. County staff will pursue appraisals for each of these parcels and make offers to each of the landowners once the appraisal process is complete.
Pursuant to Collier County Ordinance 2002-63, as amended, which established the Conservation Collier Program, "prior to acquiring land located within a municipality's boundaries, approval must first be obtained from the governing body of that municipality."
Therefore, County staff have requested that the Marco Island City Council consider approval of these potential purchases while meeting in regular session on May 4, 2026. The Board of County Commissioners will consider individual purchase agreements for each of these parcels at a future regular meeting should the owners accept the County's offers.
Below is a synopsis of the potential land acquisitions:
1. Property Owner: Dwight and Ulrike Klett
Property Location: 889 Scott Dr.
Size: 0.57 acres
Zoning: RSF-3, Residential Single Family, 3 units/acre
2. Property Owner: Kim M. Kueffner Trust
Property Location: 1783 Watson Rd.
Size: 0.34 acres
Zoning: RSF-4, Residential Single Family, 4 units/acre
