Membership status of Mr. John Martini, on Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee - Councilor Bonita Schwan, City Council

BACKGROUND:
Ordinance 99-11 includes a provision addressing the removal of members from an advisory committee or board. Section 2-205 provides that, “unless otherwise precluded by state statute, ordinance, resolution, or motion, any member of a board, committee, or commission shall serve at the pleasure of the City Council and may be removed by the City Council with or without cause.”
During the December 8, 2025, City Council meeting, Council members expressed concerns regarding the conduct of Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee member Mr. John Martini.
Council members will discuss and determine whether Mr. Martini shall continue serving on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, or if an alternative individual should be appointed to fill the position until the end of his designated term.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: NA
RECOMMENDATION: Discuss and confirm Council’s decision for Mr. John Martini’s membership status on the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee (PRAC).
POTENTIAL MOTIONS:
1. “I move to retain Mr. John Martini as a member on the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee”; or,
2. “I move to remove Mr. John Martini on the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee and appoint a replacement member”.
