BACKGROUND:
The project area is located on the north side of S. Collier Boulevard between Swallow Avenue and Huron Court and both sides of Swallow Avenue, Huron Court, and Panama Court (approximately 10,600 LF of swale). Exfiltration swales are part of the City's efforts to mitigate water quality in the city's waterways as included in the FDEP approved category 4e plan. The project proposes to design exfiltration systems (French drains) at the bottom of the roadside swales, subject to available space and utility constraints.
These exfiltration systems consist of perforated pipes and gravel trench system that facilitate percolation of nutrient-laden stormwater into the ground, thereby reducing the amount of nutrients introduced into the waterways.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this project is provided in "PW Exfiltration Swales, capital account # 300-5400-5410-606300-25009 and under DEP Grant Agreement L0069.
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize the City Manager to Issue a Purchase Order to American Engineering Consultants of Marco Island, Inc., in the amount of $99,300, for professional engineering services related to the Design of Exfiltration Swales, pursuant to City of Marco Island Contract No. 2025-009-3 for Professional Services.
