BACKGROUND:
On January 5, 2026, Council approved the internal recruitment process; on February 2, 2026, Council approved the City Manager Search Timeline Process and Job Description. The April 6, 2026, meeting is to review the candidate rankings and approve next steps to include reference checks and interview coordination for the May 11th City Manager Interview Workshop.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: N/A
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommend City Council discuss and consider the selection of a preferred candidate for the position of City Manager and, if directed, authorize the Human Resources Director to proceed with the required background screening process and coordinate with the City Attorney regarding preparation and negotiation of a proposed City Manager employment agreement for future Council consideration.
POTENTIAL MOTION:
“I move to direct Human Resources Director to proceed with the selected City Manager candidate and initiate the required background screening process, and to coordinate preparation of a proposed employment agreement to be presented to City Council for consideration and approval at the June 1, 2026, public meeting.”
