Discussion with Council Action - City Attorney Fee Structure - Alan L. Gabriel, City Attorney

BACKGROUND:
The current agreement for legal services with the City Attorney was executed on February 5, 2015. During the FY 2027 Operating Budget Workshop (July 20, 2026), the City Attorney requested an adjustment to the fee structure, which has remained unchanged since 2022 (City Attorney Representation Amendment, October 4, 2022).
Following discussion, the City Council directed the City Attorney to develop alternative fee structure options reflecting varying retainer amounts and hourly rates for Council's consideration. Based on the Council's direction, the City Attorney will prepare a Second Amendment to the February 5, 2015 Agreement for Legal Services incorporating the selected fee structure.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: To be funded from Acct # 0015140 523105.
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to discuss and provide direction to the selected fee for legal services.
POTENTIAL MOTION: As appropriate based on Council discussion.
