BACKGROUND:
During the September 23, 2024 City Council meeting, the Police Pension Board elected Mr. Al Schettino as their fifth Trustee member (Resolution 24-59).
Pursuant to Section 32-46 of the Marco Island Code of Ordinances, ” The fifth trustee shall be chosen by a majority of the four trustees approved and elected as provided for herein, and such person's name shall be submitted to the city council. Upon receipt of the fifth person's name, the city council shall, as a ministerial duty, appoint such person to the board of trustees as its fifth trustee. “
City Council members requested that this appointment be tabled until the October 21, 2024 City Council meeting so that more information of Mr. Al Schettino’s qualification for serving on the Police Pension Board is provided.

RECOMMENDATION: Approval of Resolution 24-59.
POTENTIAL MOTION: “I move to approve Resolution 24-59, appointing Al Schettino as the Fifth Trustee to the Police Officer’s Pension Plan Board.”
