BACKGROUNDOn February 22, 2022, the City Council approved hiring a consultant to conduct a Municipal Code Audit to identify conflicts in the code, eliminate redundancy, revise the code for clarity, and update references to State law.  On April 2023, Mr. Jeff Katims presented his findings and recommendations to the City Council which included streamlining, organizing, and more effectively aligning the City's Code of Ordinances with existing State statutes and regulations, specifically:

"                    Centralizing and consolidating penalties and abatement areas of the Code

"                     Standardizing appeals and definitions

"                     Relocating chapters on sexual predator and hurricane preparedness

"                     Placing fees and applications in separate documents

"                     Determining if any policies should become administrative policies outside of the        Code of Ordinances

During a special session workshop on May 6, 2024, Mr. Katims reviewed the updated recommendation with Council.  Mr. Katims incorporated non-substantive comments from the City Council and presented the additions and modifications for a first reading on August 1, 2024.
