Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Purchase Order to Earth Tech Enterprises, Inc. for the 2026 Tigertail Lagoon/Sand Dollar Island Ecosystem Restoration Project Operational Maintenance Related to Escarpment Remediation in the Amount of $156,000. Approved by the Hideaway Tax District Board - Justin Martin P.E., Director, Public Works
Body
BACKGROUND: The Sand Dollar spit serves as a nature-based coastal defense, helping to protect this area of Marco Island from severe storm impacts and erosion. While restoration efforts were completed earlier this year, recent king tides have affected portions of the sand spit. To maintain the integrity of the berm, the recommended maintenance includes ramping the escarpment, which will require approximately 7,000 cubic yards of sand.
The sand restoration is scheduled to be completed by February 15, 2026 with a four-week window for mobilization and demobilization.
The Hideaway Beach Tax District Board authorized an amount not to exceed $156,000 for this sand restoration.
Earth Tech Enterprises, Inc. has been chosen for this project through a piggy-back arrangement under Collier County contract #21-7885.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: All the necessary funds are available in the FY26 Tax District’s budget. Funding for this Purchase Order will be provided by the Hideaway Tax District’s "REPAIR & MAINTENANCE” G/L No. 150-5700-5371-524600.
