Title

Authorize the City Manager to Issue a Purchase Order to Lightning Fleet Solutions for the Purchase of 4 Ancillary Equipment Systems for 4 Police Vehicles in the Amount of $102,648.00 - Tracy Frazzano, Police Chief, Police Department

Body

BACKGROUND

The Police Department in its annual budget allocates funds for PD vehicle replacement and upfitting. Vehicle replacement is part of a structured rotation plan. Factors such as mileage, rising maintenance costs, and evolving departmental requirements play a significant role in determining the need for replacement. When a vehicle is replaced, certain ancillary emergency equipment is required in order to meet routine and emergency law enforcement duties.

Currently, the Department has four replacement vehicles that need ancillary equipment upfitting. This includes but is not limited to emergency lights, speakers, sirens, lamps and searchlights, in-car firearm and computer mounts, push bumper, and installation. The total cost for equipment and installation is $102,648.00.

To facilitate these acquisitions, the Police Department will utilize the City of Cape Coral, Florida contract #RPW2313MM. Lightning Fleet Solutions is a representative of this contract, which allows municipalities to benefit from the collective purchasing strength of multiple agencies. This approach streamlines the procurement process and helps ensure cost-effective acquisitions for the Police Department.

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT

Funding for this vehicle equipment is included in the FY 2024 Capital Improvement Program (3005210-606400-16107) approved by City Council.
