BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this agenda item is to obtain City Council approval to authorize Capital Contractors to perform demolition and limited site restoration services for the removal of the old Racquet Center building located at 1275 San Marco Road. The scope of work includes installation of silt fencing for erosion control, clearing and grubbing within the building footprint, demolition of the existing structure including slabs and foundations to below finished grade, and the legal disposal of all associated debris.
Following demolition, the contractor will backfill and compact the disturbed area, perform rough and final grading to ensure proper drainage, and install sod within the former building footprint and directly impacted areas. This work is limited to the building footprint and does not include full-site clearing. Approval of this item will allow for safe removal of the structure and restoration of the site to a stabilized condition.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:
The Racquet Center project will be funded through the existing Parks Capital budget under GL Account No. 300-5700-5720-606300-23801 using General and Specialty contract 2023-030CC

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommend awarding the contract to Capital Contractors LLC. in the amount of $95,640 and funding the Racquet Center demolition project using the previously approved and budgeted Parks Capital funds.
