Follow-up Discussion - Membership status of Mr. John Martini, on Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee - Darrin Palumbo, Chairman, City Council

Body

BACKGROUND:

During the January 5, 2026 City Council meeting, Councilors discussed removing Mr. John Martini from the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee (PRAC) based on Ordinance 99-11, Section 2-205.  See attached Ordinance. Council members expressed concerns regarding the conduct of Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee member Mr. John Martini.

Mr. Martini was not removed from the Committee during the January 5, 2026 Council meeting, because no member of the Council advanced a Motion to rescind Mr. Martini's appointment to the City of Marco Island Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee.

On January 9, 2026, Mr. Martini sent a text message to Chairman Palumbo.  The text message  included inappropriate content.   The text message is attached to this file.

Based on this recent text, Council confirmed during the January 12, 2026 meeting that they would like to have a follow-up discussion of Mr. Martini’s membership on PRAC.

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:  NA
