Identification of Committee Leads for the Committee’s 2025 Arbor Day Celebration and Application for Tree City USA Designation (All)

BACKGROUND: At the Committee’s February 5, 2025 meeting, Committee Member Victoria Myers proposed that the Committee build upon the already-developed structure and documentation for the Committee's annual Marco Nature Night and Marco in Bloom events by similarly organizing the Committee's approach to Arbor Day, Tree City USA, and other projects.
Arbor Day will be celebrated nationally on April 25, 2025. Traditionally, the City of Marco Island, under the leadership of the Beautification Advisory Committee, has conducted its celebration of Arbor Day on or around the national Arbor Day date.
The City’s annual application for Tree City USA designation has also historically been a responsibility of the Beautification Advisory Committee.
Committee member volunteers to lead both activities will be solicited at the Committee’s March 5, 2025 meeting.

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: N / A
RECOMMENDATION: Volunteer to lead the planning and execution of: 1) Arbor Day 2025, and; 2) the City’s Tree City USA application to the National Arbor Day Foundation.
POTENTIAL MOTION: None expected.
