Title

Award of Contract to Affordable Landscaping Service and Design for New Walking Path at Marco Island Dog Park in the Amount of $19,755.50 - Joe Parrilli, Manager, Fleet and Facilities

Body

BACKGROUND:

The dog park “Canine Cove” located at 1361 Andalusia Terrace, Marco Island, is a popular community space that provides residents and visitors with an area to exercise their dogs and enjoy the outdoors. However, the current layout and accessibility of the park do not fully accommodate individuals with disabilities, particularly those who rely on wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids. As part of the City's commitment to providing equal access and enhancing inclusivity for all park users, a plan was developed to install an ADA-compliant walking path throughout the park.

The proposed walking path will connect key areas within the dog park, including the entrances, and play areas ensuring that individuals with mobility challenges can fully experience the park's amenities.

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:

$11,000 in Donations and $8,755.50 from general reserves.

RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommend awarding the contract to Affordable Landscaping Service and Design for $19,755.50. The City will fund the project from donations and the remainder from general reserves.

POTENTIAL MOTION: “I move to authorize the City Manager to accept the Affordable Landscaping Service and Design   proposal.”
