Resolution - Collier County Refueling Operations - Chris Byrne, Chief, Fire-Rescue Department

Body

BACKGROUND:

In 2018, Collier County executed an Interlocal Agreement with all local Fire-Rescue Departments that outlined the process for refueling of fire apparatus by Collier County during wildfires, extended fire operations and hurricanes.

The need for this process was based on experience during major brush fires in 2017 and 2018, when fuel became a critical issue. Fire apparatus fighting these fires need to receive on-site portable refueling to continue operations.

Collier County Emergency Management is the mechanism to facilitate this need. Through the utilization of fuel trailers, etc., they deliver fuel to the emergency units, brush trucks, and fire engines.

The agreement was valid for three (3) years with three (3) one-year automatic renewals ending in 2024 resulting in the need for this renewal agreement.

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: A $10.00 Purchase Order will be processed as a placeholder. The expense will be funded through the FY25 Fire-Rescue Department Operating Budget.

RECOMMENDATION:  Authorize the City Manager to approve the agreement.

POTENTIAL MOTION:   “I move approval of Resolution 25-01.”
