The Fire-Rescue Department proposes to equip the Fireboat with a Lifepack Cardiac Monitor and Cardiac Compression Device. Equipping the fireboat with dedicated advanced life support equipment will improve the response time to emergencies by eliminating the need for firefighters to move equipment from a fire engine to the fireboat prior to response. The previous fireboat was not equipped with this equipment due to lack of secure storage space.
Firefighter Paramedics utilize cardiac monitors daily to perform 12-lead ECG analysis to analyze the electrical heart rhythm to detect a heart attack, measure blood oxygen and CO2 levels, measure blood pressure, pulse rate and deliver a shock in cardiac arrest situations.
The LUCAS 3 Chest Compression Device is a chest compression portable, mechanical device designed to assist Firefighter Paramedics in administering automated chest compressions improving quality and consistency of the compression.
Pricing is provided through the Savvik Buying Group / Public Safety Association Inc, Cooperative Purchasing Contract #2021-06, Medical Equipment. The City will piggyback this contract to execute the purchase.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for the purchase of one (1) LIFEPAK Cardiac Monitor and one (1) LUCAS Cardiac Compression Device is accomplished utilizing Fire Impact Fees.
