Appointment of City Council Vacancy - Joan Taylor, City Clerk
Body

BACKGROUND:

During the December 2nd City Council meeting, Councilors selected by paper ballot four finalists from a list of 24 applicants to fill the vacancy generated by Councilor Greg Folley's resignation (made on May 16, 2024), effective November 5, 2024.

The following 4 finalists are:

* Daniel Bryant
* David Leaser
* Martin Winter
* Teri Sommerfeld

Finalists will have the opportunity to provide closing remarks and answer City Councilor questions.

Based on Article III, Section 3.05.3.b of the City Charter, Council members will motion for the appointee. A majority vote shall determine the next appointed Councilor. If there is a tie, that motion fails and another motion is made.

Prior to the motion being made, Council members may discuss and agree upon using a voting method to arrive at that nomination which shall be voted upon.

The newly appointed member will be sworn in during the January 6, 2025 City Council meeting.

***If an appointment cannot be made from the applicant pool, Council agreed during the November 18, 2024 City Council meeting, that it reserves the right to appoint through Council nominations with Council vote.
