Initial Committee Discussion - 2025 Fiscal Year Projects & Budget Allocations

Body

BACKGROUND:  With the start of the 2025 Fiscal Year beginning October 1, 2024, the Beautification Advisory Committee has an opportunity to review and discuss potential projects and the allocations within the Committee’s budget to support those projects in the year ahead.

The Committee is currently executing the Ten Thousand Trees in Ten Years Pilot Program with an expectation that the results of the pilot (and a report with potential recommendations) will be returning to the City Council for review and decision in the not-too-distant future.

Additionally, the Committee has championed several annual activities and events such as “Marco In Bloom”, “Marco Nature Night”, and “Arbor Day” that have engaged the community and advanced the beautification of the Island over the years. Other unique, special activities (e.g. the Island-wide traffic signal utility box creative wrap “call to artists” campaign) have also resulted in a lasting, positive impact to the charm and character of Marco Island.

With the recent appointment of several new members to the Beautification Advisory Committee, an initial opportunity to lay out a general plan for the upcoming year and to “brainstorm” fresh approaches for the Committee’s initiatives is available for the Committee’s consideration.
