Title
Authorize the City Manager to Issue a Purchase Order to All Roads Kenworth, LLC for the Purchase of a T880 Kenworth Dump Truck for the Water and Sewer Department in the Amount of $255,365.00 - Jeffrey Poteet, General Manager, Water & Sewer Department
Body

BACKGROUND:
The need to replace the Water and Sewer Department's dump truck was presented to the City Council during the June 19, 2023, Capital Improvement Program Workshop. Funding in the amount of $200,000 for the replacement dump truck was included in the FY 24 Capital Improvement budget. However, due to ongoing shortages resulting from the COVID-19 epidemic, the quote for the new truck exceeded the allocated budget. The additional required funding of $55,365 will be covered by reallocating residual funds from a recently closed project.

The Water & Sewer Department's 2004, 7900 International dump truck is now 20 years old. It has logged over 49,000 miles and 20,000 hours and is in dire need of replacement. The truck body and dump bed are in poor condition, and the hydraulic systems are starting to fail. This truck is used daily to move heavy equipment (excavators, forklifts, backhoes, etc.), large pieces of piping, and haul materials such as dirt, rock, stone, concrete, asphalt, and lime to and from excavation sites. The cost to repair this 20-year-old piece of equipment outweighs the cost of replacement. The 2004 truck will be sent to auction once the new truck is received.

The new dump truck will be purchased using pricing from the Florida Sheriffs Association Contract FSA-VEH21.0 through All Roads Kenworth, LLC.

FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT: FY24 Capital Improvement Program (431 fund).
