BACKGROUND:
Winterberry Park’s baseball fields are in need of improvements to restore and enhance the playing surfaces. The scope of work includes the installation of new sod and grading of the outfield area, as well as the addition of clay and laser grading to both baseball infields. These improvements will address existing field conditions, improve drainage and playability, and provide a more consistent and safer playing surface for the athletes and community members who utilize Winterberry Park.
FUNDING SOURCE / FISCAL IMPACT:
This project is not budgeted in FY26 or FY27, however, there are funds available through donations in the Parks Foundation Fund. There is approximately $101,000 unrestricted in the Parks Foundation. Staff have asked the Senior Softball League to contribute the remaining funds through donations. The total purchase order amount is $197,600.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that City Council authorize the City Manager to issue a purchase order to JSM Services, Inc. in the amount of $197,600 to complete the necessary improvements at Winterberry Park using contract #2023-030 General and Specialty Contracting.
POTENTIAL MOTION:
“I move to authorize the City Manager to issue a purchase order to JSM Services, Inc. in the amount of $197,600 for improvements to the Winterberry Park baseball fields and authorize the City Manager to execute the necessary documents.”
